Last year, my mom, daughter and I took a trip up north for a family baby shower. We needed new University of Michigan gear as it’s a college that we hold very dear. GO BLUE! After the shower we stopped at Twelve Oaks in Livonia as there was a M Den there. I picked up my son the t-shirt and sweatshirt he wanted for Christmas. The rest of us decided that the clothing was ridiculously expensive for our pocket books. Fortunately there was a Meijer(s - as Michiganders say) across the street! SCORE! Two Wolverine sweatshirts for the outstanding price of $49.95 BOGO baby! A year goes by and Michigan football is KICKING some big time ass! It gets cold, the boys are still winning and I go looking for my Michigan sweatshirt. It is nowhere to be found. I ask my family…”has any one seen or worn my Michigan sweatshirt?” A whole bunch of No’s! Well crap. Then come the suggestions. “Did you leave it at the cottage?” “Is it in Olivia’s closet, the dirty clothes, the car, school?” No, No, No, NO NOWHERE! Now I’m annoyed so I borrow Olivia’s UM sweatshirt as the boys just keep on winning. Over the holidays I clean out my closet and drawers. Still no sweatshirt. We watch the Rose Bowl screaming, sweating, biting our nails, jumping up and down like id10ts. They did it! They beat the Tide in a heart stopping last minute touchdown in overtime. PFEW! One down one to go! The following weekend my son and I are back in Michigan for the Lions game. We hit M Den on UM campus and spent a ridiculous amount of money on a bunch of new Michigan stuff. A bright yellow Michigan sweatshirt for myself. The lions pull it off and are #1 in their conference AND heading to the play offs for the first time since - well since forever and a day. We get home on the 8th just in time for the National Championship kick off. Not quite as “biting our nails” as the Rose Bowl, but much more screaming, yelling, jumping, stomping and then there was the crying and the “OMG’s they did it, I can’t believe they did it” and so on. I woke up this morning knowing I must wear as much Michigan gear as I can muster. As I’m getting ready, I decide to put my Lions Motor City pin on my jean jacket in the closet. It is behind my closet door. My first thought is….”hmmm why are their clothes on hangars back here?” “Oh, wow….I didn’t even know I was missing that dress?! This is weird, I think to myself I wonder who put these here? I get ready to pin the pin on my jacket and notice grey shirt hanging on the hook…..I grab it and nearly die of laughter. Yes, you guessed it - the missing Michigan sweatshirt had been hanging behind my closet door…..THE ENTIRE TIME!
Welcome to a day in the life of ME!
